Human and social sciencesThe France Alzheimer Conference – Scientific and Therapeutic Updates (FAAST) aims to foster exchange within the scientific community by providing a dedicated space for researchers to share the latest advances in their work. Traditionally focused on medical and biological sciences, the conference is taking an important step forward this year by opening submissions to researchers in the humanities and social sciences through dedicated sessions. This evolution reflects a growing recognition that understanding Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders cannot rely solely on biomedical approaches. Issues related to quality of life, care pathways, social impact, ethical considerations, public policy, and the lived experience of individuals and their families are now central to the discussion. By integrating the humanities and social sciences into its programme, FAAST seeks to encourage interdisciplinary approaches and to bring together diverse perspectives in order to enrich our overall understanding of the disease.
We will also host a roundtable discussion on representations of Alzheimer’s disease featuring two speakers:
Finally, the programme will include three thematic sessions, including one dedicated to non-pharmacological interventions, with contributions from the Fondation Médéric Alzheimer and Professor Grégory NINOT, University of Montpellier and founding president of NPIS. Two open abstract sessions will conclude the programme for the day.
